Season of Wonderment

: Opening 10 a.m., November 17, 2018, Run away with the circus this winter in our newest family-friendly exhibit! The enchanting allure of the circus has made it an enduring subject for artists for more than two centuries. , features more than twenty paintings, prints, photographs and antique toys from the Lyman Allyn’s collection, including works by Pablo Picasso, Walt Kuhn, Georges Rouault, Lucien Clergue, Jane Dickson and Raoul Dufy. , is a celebration of the spirit of wonder and artistry, mystery and illusion to be found under the Big Top. In addition to the artworks, the exhibit offers a fun and immersive circus environment to explore and interact with, perfect for memory-making with kids of all ages! The exhibit will be on view through January 13, 2019.,Wonderment Family Programs are as follows:,: November 24, December 1, 8 & 15, 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Families will enjoy tea, a hot chocolate bar, and desserts. Library. After, kids and adults can explore the , exhibition together and find unusual circus themed items in a scavenger hunt. Then everyone will head to the studio to participate in the Lions and Tigers and bears Puppets – Oh My! art project. The event price is $15 for adults, $12 for kids and free for kids under 3. Tickets include Museum admission as well as the Wonderment programming held beforehand. Full payment is required at the time of reservation. Space is limited. Participants can choose from a variety of winter themed cookies, enjoy time spent decorating them, and bring their creations home or to the family tea. Free admission all day.,: Pumpernickel Puppets, noon-1 p.m., For nearly forty years the Pumpernickel Puppets have performed colorful adaptations of classic fairy tales to all ages. Gather round and enjoy a captivating and humorous performance of “Sir George and the Dragon.” Free with museum admission or payment of Family Tea.,: Science Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Do you wanna build a snowman? Discover what snow is, what causes snow to form, and why it snows in this fun workshop where kids will be able to make their own snowstorm in a jar!
